Successful Finnish Tour openings for Sanna Nuutinen and Ilari Saulo

The first Finnish Tour tournament of the season was played on Hill Side Golf’s Hill course on June 5-7. After a long break from competition, the players were eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to measure their condition against the other Finnish top players.

Of the SGA players, Sanna Nuutinen and Ilari Saulo started the season sharpest. Sanna finished T2 at -5 two shots after the winner Niina Liias. Ilari was third and the best amateur with an excellent -14 after Roope Kakko and Matias Honkala (-17).

“It was nice to compete after a long time and see in a race situation how the swing has developed during the training season. I would say some progress has been made. Sure, I aimed at winning the race, but even though my game was solid, the last sharpness was missing. The work on the swing technique continues”, Sanna shared her thoughts after the tournament.

Ilari’s race started a little sticky, but after the first few holes, his game was steadily strong. “I hit the ball really well and got a lot of birdie opportunities. While putting is usually my strength, this time it was mediocre. I didn’t seem to sink a single putt over 2 meters. The good result didn’t come as a surprise. I ‘ve been playing really well in practice for some time, which has naturally boosted my self-confidence. ”

The season opening indicated that the training season has gone well for the SGA. We wish our players success on a broad front for the continuation of the season. The next FT event is played in Paltamo this week in a completely different type of field and conditions.
