SGA’s amateurs Casper Simberg, Fred Koskinen and Tyko Tuohimaa spent January practising in Spain and participated in three events on The Gecko Tour, an international winter golf tournament for elite amateurs and professionals played annually on the Costa del Sol.
Particularly Casper’s results prove that the intensive work done over the winter months is bearing fruit. He finished among top 5 in two of the three competitions. With an impressive score of -14 he was the best amateur and 3rd overall in his last competition played on the Atalaya New Course on Feb. 2-4. Having reached the T5th place in Copa de Andalucia in January, Casper will be moving up in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and can be very happy about his early 2020.
Fred Koskinen succeeded best on the Villa Padierna, Los Flamingos competition played on Jan 22.-24. With 2/3 rounds below par and the total score of +1 he placed an excellent 11th. Also Tyko Tuohimaa’s game showed a lot of promise as he played several rounds close to par.
SGA amateurs’ winter training continues indoors with a focus on technical improvements as they gear up for participation in all the major European amateur elite competitions in the upcoming season.
