Sanna Nuutinen continued to show excellent late season shape in LET Andalucia Costa del Sol Open played on Nov 28-Dec 1. Among a tough field with numerous LPGA tour players, Sanna finished T10 and perfected her performance with the best score of the final day 67 (-5). With scores 74-69-72-67 (-6) Sanna was left 7 shots behind the Dutch winner Anne Van Dam.
According to Sanna, improved putting was behind the final day’s top score.
– My game was really steady from the tee all week. With the putter, on the other hand, I had some difficulties on the shapely greens. Before the final day I had a good green reading practise with our Season Golf Academy’s coach Niklas Dahlgren, who was in Marbella and also caddied for me. That seemed to do the trick!
The Costa del Sol Open result gives Sanna the 22nd spot in the LET ranking and establishes her position among the top players on the tour. In the next Women’s World Ranking Sanna’s ranking will be around 300, and she will most likely replace Ursula Wikström as the best-ranked Finnish player.
From Marbella Sanna continued to the final LET competition of the season played in Kenya on Dec 5-8. After that she will take a well-deserved winter break to rest from the strain of her very successful season.
